combos combo.

if you've known me for a while, you know that i've always had a soft spot/hard on in my heart/pants for combos. i'm fully aware that they're more processed than a fresh batch of recently captured illegal immigrants but they're tasty little bite-sized snacks that i just can't get enough of, so i don't care if they're made with repurposed pig snouts. this past weekend, i was at one of my local bodegas grabbing a pair of beers & noticed that they had both zesty salsa tortilla & jalapeno cheddar tortilla combos for sale. tortillas? that's totally south of the border! since i have little to no willpower, i couldn't resist getting one of each to snack on with my beers.

#191 - three is the magic number.

oh hey there internet. how's your june been going? mine's been aight. thanks for asking. i decided to take a few weeks off from blogging & while i was away, in addition to doing a lot of thinking, two fridays ago i celebrated the third anniversary of my first ever blog post here on eat!drink!snack! i suppose it was a joyous moment. in the blog's first year, i was a snacking maniac, pumping out snack-related news & diatribes at least once or twice a day. a bunch of my friends & family wrote a dozen sweet guest posts. i was psyched. the second year brought our first ever pumpktoberfest & the continuation of snacking news with a column that lasted until the spring--the snackdown!--but by the end of the year, i started to burn out a bit from updating the blog on the daily all by myself. my third year was the one where i finally hit the wall & between that & some kinks in my personal life, i haven't been all that productive, posting something here about once a week if that. i know. it's ridiculously lame of me.

#181 - oh carlos!

last saturday, i spent the afternoon with a friend in chelsea, where we wandered from gallery to gallery in the rain. it ruled & here's why this is significant...i've lived in nyc for just under a decade now & in that time, i've never, like ever, just gone to chelsea & walked around looking at mostly-cool art for FREE. seriously, i don't know what my problem is. i've learned my lesson though & plan on doing a lot more gallery wandering this summer. maybe i'll even walk the high line for the first time while i'm in the neighborhood.

#177 - one fine evening.

drama! if you know me face-to-face & stuff, you know that it's rare that i get visibly pissed off about anything. life's too short & miscellaneous clichés. i grew up in an environment where my dad was angry at life a bunch of the time & while i don't have offspring bumbling about my home to affect with my anger, i've still never wanted to replicate that scenario, so i've tried to maintain an even keel in my wanderings. last night i sort of lost track of that mission though. for the second wednesday in a row, i planned on meeting a friend at good beer nyc for blog purposes & for the second wednesday in a row, poof fuck...the plans went completely awry. this second time, i was totally ripshit...on the inside, of course.

#171 - oh! green mountains.

hello loyal eat!drink!snack! reader! fear not. we'll get back to celebrating pumpktoberfest tomorrow with a SLASHER FANTASTICO from the 80's, but for today we're going to take a lil detour & visit my fourth favorite new england state, vermont! as i've mentioned before, i grew up in neighboring new hampshire, a state which is basically shaped like an upside down vermont. we've got the white mountains & vermont's got the green mountains. basically, the two states are like bosum buddies. although i'm sure i visited vermont as a kid with my family, i have no memories of it happening. my first & most vivid memory of vermont is traveling to burlington in between freshman & sophomore year of college to meet a friend & head to montreal (details withheld due to the debaucherous events that occurred).
